7 p.m. (sun or no sun) at Buck Shaw Stadium
- Major League Soccer's Simon Borg had harsh words for...the sun? Borg suggested that matches should be moved to a later time to prevent teams from gaining a competitive advantage when the sun sets over the North End of Buck Shaw Stadium. Wednesday night's coin toss is, apparently, a must-see event
- Borg's information stemmed from an article written by the San Jose Mercury News' Elliott Almond. And, in other news, the San Jose Earthquakes are hosting the Eastern Conference leading Columbus Crew on Wednesday (some might say the sun has created an eclipse over an otherwise highly-intriguing match between quality soccer teams)
- Goal.com predicts a draw. Ho-hum
- Fans can also check out the official MLS match preview here
Not only does a later time equal the playing field, it also allows the supporter's to chant better. I dont know what it is, but chants don't seem to carry while the sun is out.
ReplyDeleteIt is great to have an advantage when the opposing keeper has the sun in his eyes int he 1st and then the Ultras behind him in the 2nd, but Saturday showed that it can come back to bite us in the ass if its the reverse
